about

I’m Daan Rodenburg, a sound designer and audio producer based in the Netherlands [CONFIRM: city — Amsterdam?].

I make sound for brands: sonic branding, sound design, music supervision and voice work — from full sonic identities down to the half-second click a payment app makes. Most projects need a mix of those, which suits me fine. I work via Ambassadors, a creative production company in Amsterdam, and I’ve made sound for clients including Google, KPN and Adyen [CONFIRM: which client names may be used publicly — Google especially tends to require sign-off].

The work I like best is the invisible kind. Nobody leaves a cinema humming the interface sounds — but get them wrong and everyone notices. So I spend a lot of time on things most people never consciously hear: how a brand sounds on a cheap phone speaker, whether a TTS voice can say Dutch street names without embarrassing itself [CONFIRM: keep this joke?], why one mix feels expensive and another doesn’t.

Before this I studied [CONFIRM: education — e.g. music production / audio engineering, institution] and I’ve been doing this professionally since [CONFIRM: year — “around X years” also fine]. When I’m not working I’m [CONFIRM: one honest hobby/detail, or cut this sentence].
